In addition to rainscreen cladding and facades, Hydram can produce unique architectural features including bull noses, buttresses,
column covers and feature detail.

The project
involved Hydram producing various aluminum,
powder coated trims and cills for the new
student village in the Endcliffe suburb of
Sheffield . This new student accommodation
provides 38 new residential blocks, housing
4,200 students and included retail units ,
recreational and catering facilities.
Hydram were approached initially to solve a
procurement issue for supplying the main design
feature metalwork. This was a folded M shaped
feature band running all around the various
buildings. In order to manufacture this feature
Hydram invested in bespoke press brake tooling
in order to achieve the difficult design
requirements.
The project in all amounted to in excess of 500
bespoke welded corners, over 8000 linear metres
of 'M' Feature Channel, 6000 linear metres of
Cills, Flashings and drip features, 1500 linear
Metres of Soffit and Render Panels, over 10'000
butt straps to varying designs and numerous
other fixing brackets, top hat details and
bespoke fabricated end caps. All metalwork were
finished in a powder coat paint to match other
sub contractors work on site. All powder coating
was carried out in line with architectural
standards and was supplied with a 25 year
guarantee.
All parts were individually identified, packed
into kits, labelled with their own site specific
grid references and delivered to designated
points on site to match the installers build
schedules.
Using this project as one off their three
submitted entries, Marlborough Brickwork were
awarded the title of 'Specialist Brickwork
Contractor of the Year' at the annual 2008 Brick
Awards.
