"Hydram is committed to achieving World Class
standards across all functions."
Established in 1977, Hydram occupies a 70,000
square foot site conveniently situated close to
junction 60 of the A1 in County Durham and
provides the full range of subcontract
engineering services. Over the years Hydram has
built a reputation for customer service,
quality, competitive prices and on-time
delivery. The business has continually invested
in the latest production technology and capacity
to ensure that its sheet metal processes are
flexible, precise and efficient.
Hydram supplies components and fabrications to
market-leading companies in industries such as
construction, shop fitting and display,
lighting, earth-moving machinery and white
goods. Hydram's work can be seen in Marks &
Spencer, Tesco, Royal Mail depots and Boeing 737
aircraft and on projects including the Royal
Opera House and Heathrow Terminal 5.

“Since its inception Hydram has been a positive,
forward looking business. As a company we have
always embraced new ideas, invested in people
and machines and always tried to have an eye on
the future. The decision to strive towards
becoming a truly World Class business was
formalised in 2007. We have built a world class
customer base; many of these companies allowed
us to visit their sites and learn from their
experiences. In total, over 80% of the workforce
has visited companies including Nissan, Komatsu
and Cummins Engines.
The commitment made by Hydram has been
substantial. It has involved training on the 5S
method, the principles of lean manufacturing and
creating and sustaining an improvement culture.
In addition to this, Hydram seconded two staff
members for 18 months to be trained as
improvement engineers, with the help of NEPA,
The North East Productivity Alliance.
Being world class is not just about improving
production efficiencies but also about improving
every aspect of the business, including
developing and maintaining good relationships
with customers.
The journey continues and Hydram moves ever
closer towards becoming a world class business.”
